Re: Another 486, just for fun.

Fantastic, thanks again for the help. It's an interesting card and certainly has its positive points. I'm surprised at how many of the games I have here sitting on the shelf support the PAS, now that I look - it really was a genuine contender in its day, before the company went belly up.

Re: Another 486, just for fun.

I have a couple of questions about the PAS: - What are the differences b/w the Pro Audio Spectrum, and the Pro Audio Studio? From what I've read the studio - which I'm using here - came with more stuff, like a microphone, etc. But are there differences in the actual cards? - Depending on the answer …

Re: Another 486, just for fun.

Sure, here it is Cool! Thanks for sharing. The 486SX33 I had as a kid came in a case like this one - it was a flip top like mine, but didn't have the MHz display and the power switch was a rocker switch on the back right-hand side. It seems that there were several variations of it. I can't remember …

Re: Another 486, just for fun.

Not sure if you need/want them now, but here are the 2.02 mixer and 3.26 driver files Thanks for those, I've tried them (love this 'working from home' thing) and although they work better than Version 2.24 in that the PAS.EXE settings are actually stored, your version was behaving strangely. First …

Glad you got things working. C128DCR has 8580 sid, which sounds quite a bit different than 6581, but it also has MORE features. However the filters sound a lot different. There is a digi fix for it too which you can find my googling a bit. You might want to back up Al Anger's web stuff if you want …

Re: Another 486, just for fun.

A scan of the manual would be very much appreciated, thanks in advance for taking the time to do it. I had another frustrated attempt at getting PAS.EXE to work as described but no matter what I tried the result was the same - if I changed the level of one slider (MIC for example), then the rest of …

Another small enhancement for my C64 this time - heatsinks! Some of the chips get quite warm, and this is one of the reasons that they fail; the constant heating / cooling. I'd previously removed the crappy cardboard RF shield which allows the air to flow again but I decided that some small …

Re: Another 486, just for fun.

I'm mainly interested in the PAS compatibility, so the TSR will have to stay. I've since done some more memory juggling and have a decent setup going now. Hee hee, I'd love to RTFM but I don't have one! I searched for an online scan of it but no luck, any idea where I could find one? A basic 'help' …

Re: Dual ISA Sound Cards in Dos 7

in DOS
I use a Live! and a CT2230 + DB50XG in my Windows 98 machine and am very happy with it. The CT2230 is good because it isn't PnP, so Windows 98 does see it, and it's just a great card. I use a dual boot, one for Windows and one for a DOS 7 boot. The CT2230 is initialiased (via diagnose.exe, etc) in …

Re: Another 486, just for fun.

The PAS16 is very well shielded but my card has a constant hiss that I couldn't get rid off. But certainly no "hearing the computer think" sounds like other cards. Yes mine hisses too, the hiss starts as soon as the card is initialised (i.e. when the TSR is loaded), and gets significantly worse in …

Re: Another 486, just for fun.

A small update for this machine. Previously I was using a Sound Blaster Pro 2.0 along side a YMF701 OPLSAx, with the Yamaha card attached to a DB50XG for GM, and then feeding into the Creative card, which did the rest. I decided to swap the SB Pro out for a Media Vision Pro Audio Spectrum 16 because …

I wanted to buy a trampoline for my kids the other day, a quick google found me some impartial, location specific advice and reviews, one of which included a link to a local distributor. The local distributor's site was fantastic, and within a few seconds of landing on it a "chat" dialog popped up …
