Re: What game are you playing now?

in Milliways
Some excellent games - Sanitarium is a classic, particularly in the early stages. And Daggerfall is one that I plan to have a red hot go at one day when I have the time. I've finished with 4D Sports Boxing for now. It was great fun but has balancing issue - far too easy for the first 3/4, and then …

I've been working my way through the complete library of CGW magazine thanks to the amazing efforts to scan them all here: http://www.cgwmuseum.org/ I donated to the cause and was sent the whole lot on DVD, which I promptly loaded onto my iPad and can easily browse them at my leisure. Anyway it's a …

Re: Modern Model M keyboard equivalent.

Thanks for the input (pardon the pun). After some reading and much procrastination I've gone with the Quick Fire Pro with Cherry MX Brown switches. The DAS keyboard - which has been relegated to music server duties - has blue switches I think; clicky but too light to compare to the Model M. The …

You have some things in your config which I'm not familiar with (keyboard.sys, country.sys), have you tried booting with a boot disk (i.e. no config) and running it?

What game are you playing now?

I get the sense that people around here are generally more interested in playing with old hardware than playing old games, that's often true for me too; I find myself installing and testing out hardware with a game as apposed to playing anything end-to-end. But lately I've been making an effort to …

The 90's were a time of great tech revolutions, lots of it hype, and I was a poor student so didn't have the cash to gets hands on with most of it. Now I can. Also I take great pleasure in sitting in front of a computer that has no internet access. Nothing popping up to distract you, just the …

Very interesting, thanks for the quote from Warren. I'll go with the floppy version for now and keep an eye out for the CD version, if they're "completely different games" then I'd better play both :P The urge to market things as a DOOM clone must have been hard to resist at the time but they were …

The CD-ROM version is miles better. Funny that you should mention System Shock, I recently got a boxed copy of System Shock 2, quite a bargain too at 30 euro. Does the CD version still have the General Midi option for music, or is it red book? System Shock 2 is another game I've been waiting …

I'm going the classic route. The manual suggests that it's a mouse driven game, so I'm going to try play it as the devs intended. The interface, from what I've seen so far, suggest that it's more of an adventure game than a frenetic4 action game. Yes I took a look at the CD version a while back but …
