Re: Win98? PLEASE?????!

I see that, I never really had a problem with the DOS drivers that came with my SBLive (except the ones that came with the LiveWare 3 package. I never did figure out what the problem actually was, I just used to get around it by installing LW2, backing up the DOS driver folder, installin LW3 and …

Re: 3D API Compatibility List - By Snover

All the search stuff at the top right of the list looks kinda jacked in my browser of choice (Opera). I don't expect you to fix that (particularly when Snover is a Mozilla whore) but it would be nice. Another thing: I get this error: Warning: Supplied argument is not a valid MySQL result resource in …

Re: Tip of the Day continues to haunt

Another option, one I used before I read about the repair thing here, is to simply install VDMSound as the target user. That generally works well here although I'll give the Repair a go when I next reinstall (which'll probably be late this year or early next year depending on when I get all the …

Launchpad hanging up DOS games?

In my never ending quest to get the sound in Shadow Warrior running acceptably in XP I installed the Launchpad a week or two back after reading about it in the posting guidelines. Trouble is, whenever I launch SW (I haven't tried it with anything else yet) from the launchpad it'll hang up right at …

Re: Win98? PLEASE?????!

If they can't setup drivers in DOS what chance have they got in using something like VDMSound? My experience with both DOS emulation drivers and VDMSound says that both generally require the same steps (editing config files and running one or two programs to enable the emulation) so if they can't do …

Re: Monkey Island II without VDMS on XP ?

the built-in emulation is inferior to Vlad's I'm not going to believe that until I start getting more consistent results in its favour. Right now, wherever XPs works, VDMSound works just as well and where it doesn't VDMSound is usually the same (the only exceptions have been a couple of cases with …

Re: Final Fantasy 7

in Windows
I don't know about newer video cards but the TV out on my current cards looks like crap compared with my PS2 (and even my brothers PlayStation 1). The Dual Shock pad is also heaps more comfortable than my Logitech gamepad (not to mention has all the buttons in the right places :p).

Re: Redneck Rampage sound help (no sound)....

in DOS
If its anything like the Live then the Audigy should install its own DOS emulator drivers. Go into the Device Manager and in one of the entries for the Audigy there should be a property sheet for the cards DOS emulation. Make sure that the virtual settings here (Address, IRQ, DMA etc) are set to the …

Re: Re: Re: Re: Problem with duke 3d.

Originally posted by Nicht Sehr Gut Right now, the only "good way" of running BUILD games is in DOS/Win9x. That's part of the reason why I set my machine to dual-boot between Win98 and XP. I can get tolerable play from XP, but it still "chugs" when I crank up the audio settings. I'm just hoping …

Re: Monkey Island II without VDMS on XP ?

Originally posted by Nicht Sehr Gut You don't have to do anything. Understand that it's very basic Soundblaster support. It's nowhere near SoundBlaster Live or anything like that. It's actually quite inferior to VDMSound, so don't expect much. It really depends on the game. In my experience, when …

Re: Final Fantasy 7

PC version == PSX version with better edited text and a million more problems. For all intents and purposes, you're better off with the PSX version and playing it either on a real PlayStation or an emulator. It really is a poor port to the PC. None of the supposed advantages of PC games over console …

Re: Re: Problem with duke 3d.

Searching the previous posts is soo much trouble ain't it. Neither is just helping him out, either ;) 1. "Upgrade" to Windows XP. It will allow you to play the Build engine games SFX BUT at at lowest settings. Duke3D runs at maximum audio settings reasonably well here. It's virtually the only Build …
