If anything its out of date by now. I don't recall what the changes were outside of the registry tweaks and bundling the wrapper.

I remember using XGL200 back in my G400 days. It was included in ParaKnowYa's G400 driver pack. I'm posting them up here since they seem to no longer be available online. It includes some registry tweaks for the Windows 9x G400 driver as well.

I was finally able to locate a contemporary review of the Micronics board in addition to the AMI Enterprise III (which uses the SiS chipset like the NiCE board). As long as you are running PC133 RAM, the 440BX runs fine at 133FSB. Keep in mind that you will be overclocking the AGP bus to ~87Mhz due to it having a fixed 2/3 bus divider. Most decent video cards will handle this without complaining, but some will get pretty grumpy.

Ugh, I hate transient memory problems. This problem did get me thinking, would a board this old even support 3 chip 4MB SIMMs (2 4M x 4 DRAM chips plus parity chip)?

DOS 4.x is pretty uncommon. Most OEMs stayed with 3.3 since 4.0 was found to be very buggy. Accessing UMBs on a XT usually require additional hardware or chipset support. Just remember that by default, WfW and Win9x clients can't directly connect to Windows 7 file and printer sharing. You usually have to disable NTLMv2 authentication among other things.

DIAGNOSE.EXE has a memory detection and test routine built in. The memory amount also appears in the AWE Control Panel under Windows.

I finally decoded the data cache part numbers, its 20ns. Hmm, both data and tag are 20ns, that could be a problem. FWIW, the cache on the Micronics board was also 20ns. I also figured out why the machine won't run in the "fastest" setting. One of the 4MB SIMMs is apparently bad, but the defect …

Checked the chips. Cache Tag SRAM is labeled -20, while the Data SRAM is labeled -5. Don't know if that means 5ns or 50ns. I'll post pictures later since that seems off either way. The 4MB and 1MB SIMMs are all 70ns.
