Re: PENTIUM II VOODOO POWERED

the 4500 I have on AGP 4x is perfectly solid. It can run games that are way after its time with ease : warcraft 3, half life 2, age of empires 3 etc. Also, if I want an alternative to ATI or nVidia (for modern computing), only a 5500 can push high resolutions and offer dual output with VGA and DVI …

Re: PENTIUM II VOODOO POWERED

Cause a 5500 is an utter POS that's why! It's got the durability of wet tissue paper. Personally, for Glide gaming I don't see the need to hold back on CPU power for any particular reason. My Glide rig has a 1.6ghz Tualatin with Voodoo 2s in SLI. Anything that might overwhelm the V2s gets run on …

Re: PENTIUM II VOODOO POWERED

I can't find the link at the moment, but I distinctly remember seeing benchmarks that show voodoo 2's can bog down cpu's up to about 600mhz. Depends who did the benchmarks. Typically 3dfx cards were benchmarked in OpenGL or Direct3D instead of Glide... :sly: With Glide, they stomped on pretty much …

Re: My Dual Xeon PC

thank you guys! with pentium 4 not being everyones cup of tea (myself, I love them) I thought it would be a great idea to build another P4 but now with a xeon as a cpu. The only thing with xeons is that the heatsinks do not attach to the board but to the m/b tray underneath. So couple of M4 nuts …

Re: Sound Card Recordings

I've added ESS ES1869 recordings. I've been curious about the ESFM synth. The card is easy to setup. Basically you just plug it in and power up and you're good to go. It's PNP and my BIOS setup the resources perfectly. The card doesn't need any drivers to work with DOS games. It's SBPro compatible …

Re: PENTIUM II VOODOO POWERED

I have a Pentium II 300 that I would like to make into a Voodoo II sli machine. How much ram do I need and what OS should I use. It currently has windows ME on it. Would like to play Powerslide, Unreal, UT99, Quake II, Redline, Thief Gold and a few others circa 1997-1999. The best OS is windows …

Re: Retro Rig Photo Thread

This is the current status of my P1 gaming machine: http://img839.imageshack.us/img839/1484/opl3machineresize.png I did a lot of work to get it to that point! --> P1 233Mhz MMX w/ arctic silver thermal paste --> 92mm Noctua fan for CPU --> S3 Trio64 --> 3dfx voodoo2 12MB (diamond monster) --> SB16 …
