I'd take a look at the right TMU. 2 Pins about number 194 look like they are shorted, but it coud just be a speck of dust.

I did notice the oxidised leg on the photo but sometimes that just be the way the Camera took it. Anyway Great to see another V1 fixed.

The p4 results look correct, but yes definitely the Q6600 numbers are low.

L11 doesn't look good. C105 is on an angle for some reason. I would check all capacitors and ferrites with a multimeter. The best test for these is in a pure dos environment with Tomb Raider 1 3dfx. Also have a look at my post here 3dfx Voodoo 1 fault diagnosis and repair

If You can reduce the multiplier to 5 or 6 it may work. My Voodoo 1 failed with the rectangles on screen after 600mhz with an AMD Duron or Athlon, but failed at 500mhz with an Athlon XP Barton, I think the extra cache had an effect as well.

Uploading some photos may help a bit. Have You tested all the Ferrite Beads on the board and made sure all voltages are present. If one of the ferrites is bad it can block the voltages. Your cpu will be running off the 5v rail from the PSU. I'm amazed no one has yet mentioned that modern PSU's do not provide many Amps on the 5v rail as everything after P4 and Athlon 64 uses the 12v rail. Can You please give us the PSU 5v Amps rating? You could try dropping the fsb to 66mhz to …

If the pads are clean likely there was nothing there in the first place. R51 is a 10 ohm 0603 size resistor so replace that first and take it from there. I'd also check the pins on the TMU's and FBI are not loose. Use a scalpel blade for that. Good luck.

I have a standard Hakko Soldering station at home and I used a Hakko FR-803 desoldering station at work. Other than that just solder braid and flux. There is a bit too much solder on the pins but doesn't matter as no shorts.

I think the "waste of time" advice is to do with performance only, especially in Dos there is no point going from 1MB to 2MB with either card. For Windows You will get better colour depth, that's all.

Must be driver related. I suspect if You were using WinXP with non modded drivers You wouldn't have this issue. Justout of curiosity what are the rest of the system specs?
