Re: Monkey Island CD with Roland MT-32

in DOS
The Monkey Island CD has no MT-32 nor any other MIDI music. There's only the CD audio tracks. However, if you have the Special Edition for PC, you can convert it into a true DOS talkie version with MT-32, General MIDI and Adlib music using my Ultimate Talkie Edition Builder: http://gratissaugen.de/ …

Re: Monkey Island CD with Roland MT-32

I tried playing around with this as well, no luck for me either. I think this was a similar case with LucasArts' TIE-Fighter on the X-Wing Collection CD, the real Roland seems to like the original floppy version only. Thanks for also having a go, its a real shame they removed MT-32 support for this …

Re: Roland LAPC-I

I read on another thread something about the card needing a "5v rail" on the PSU, I didn't really understand what that meant, any help? It wasn't this thread ?: http://www.vogons.org/viewtopic.php?t=30944 Should be some explanations here (about the -5v): http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Atx Pin 20 on …

Roland LAPC-I

Just managed to get myself a Roland LAPC-I for this PC, really pleased, got it for £80 on eBay on "Make an Offer" he accepted this offer first time. is this s reasonable price do you think? and do I need to know anything before I install it? I read on another thread something about the card needing …

wd wrote: Update your graphics card drivers and directx. overlay crashing is unlikely a dosbox problem. Yep, already done that, I always have the latest drivers and DX installed

Re: Double Buffering

Vanilla dosbox 0.74 - overlay + double buffering is working perfectly, but ddraw + doublebuffering - very slow transition effects. Tested with Supaplex and One Must Fall 2097. Opengl and openglnb are totally slow on my videocard. With and without doublebuffering. Ykhwong's build - openglhq and …

robertmo wrote: tried different outputs? what's your gfx card? Yes I have tried all the output settings, ddraw usually works best for me for all my games, I have an AMD 4050 on my emulation PC and an AMD 9800 series on the gaming PC

Re: Double Buffering

After posting this I went and tried DOSBox with the same settings on my other modern gaming PC (i7 2600k 3.4MHz) and the same thing happens, slow down with Double Buffering on. So I don't think it is a CPU speed issue, I think it is just the way DOSBox works. I note that if the music is turned off …

Double Buffering

I recently discovered the wonders (and pain) of Double Buffering in DOSBox I am a bit of a stickler for smooth scrolling in my games, so i always run DOSBox on my CRT monitor at 60hz, as this is smoother that the 85hz of it's native rate. If i turn on Double Buffering, the games run silky smooth on …

Monkey Island CD with Roland MT-32

in DOS
Does anyone know if it is possible to get the CD version of Monkey Island working with the MT-32? I have the Bounty Pack version that has CD audio which sounds really good, but I just want to hear my old girl sing the Monkey Island intro theme, as I love the music. I read somewhere that MT-32 …

Re: EmuCR Dosbox r3784

Just thought I'd let anyone that is interested know that I managed to resolve the original error (This application has failed to start because the application configuration is incorrect. Reinstalling the application may fix this problem) by installing MS .Net Framework 2.0 with SP1 also applied. No …

Re: My DOS/Windows 98SE PC

I did consider 512mb of ram, but there is one game I like to play (Actua Golf 2) that will not work with 512, you get a not enough memory error if there is more than 256mb ram installed. I don't know much about EAX, what does it do? Would there be a significant difference for old school games?

Re: My DOS/Windows 98SE PC

Nice and clean! I love that "devil inside" sticker :) And the MT-32... You're lucky :) When yesterday my girlfriend asked me what I wanted for my birthday, I said: "Nothing, I really have everything I need", while a large part of me was screaming inside: "MT-32! You want MT-32!" :D lol, was not as …

Re: My DOS/Windows 98SE PC

Nice systems. What's that Speeze thing? Is it some kind of sound absorber? Does it actually make a difference? Thanks Stull, yes it is a sound insulator, it came with the case I got, I didn't fit it myself, to be honest I cant really say it makes any difference at all, I wouldn't have bothered to …
