yamnaka: If you're lucky your W32 has support for 15/16 bit color. I pretty much doubt for 24 bit support.

Thankfuly it was false alarm. In the begining of the year I replaced VGA cable with a really soft one. It works with all the cards except previously mentioned chipsets. All good in the end 😉

Main difference between CL-GD5224 and CL-GD5432 is memory, 5224 base 512KB upgrade to 1MB, 5432 base 1MB upgrade to 2MB, in my experience these memory upgrades do nothing for dos game performance. paulo... You should try MAME DOS port. Early MAME versions would work fine on a Pentium.

I have only one Cyrix 5x86-100 and no IBM. It's an early version and supports 2X multi (if i remember correctly).

PCPBench is interesting as Intel 486-133 is around 10% faster than AMD-5x86-160. (31.1 Vs 27.8 ). Otherwise is around 7% slower. I haven't done any other benchmarks as I've only set everything up a few days ago. Windows 95 is yet to be installed. What exactly happens with Winbench97 and Winbench96? …

It's not a problem to try it out. I have many 4MB sticks. They are all rated at 70ns but I think it shouldn't matter much.

Great overclocker chips were usually hand picked. That meant testing "tons" of chips to find that special one. I don't know exactly how many SK096 I have... but I think around 20 aren't tested yet. And it's not trivial to test them out as many have bent pins, some really bad :( So far I've tested …

Skyscraper: Your PCPBench results are interesting. While 320x200 is "slow", mode 100 is really fast. My 486-100WB running at 2x66=133MHz gets 31 in 320x200 and "only" 10.7 in mode 10. Me too. I run Quake for system stability. If it finishes a couple of times then it's 99% chance everything will work just fine.
