Re: Nvidia adaptergate

Why would the 'V' rating matter, we're talking cross sectional area here for amperage not the dielectric strength of any insulation?

Re: New Crazy Idea: Build a slot1 pcb for 2 cpus

Uhhh... given that period operating systems (even Windows 2K/XP) support multi-core / multi-CPU systems rather poorly, I'd ask what the ultimate purpose of such a system would be? If the answer was supposed to be 'but it would be fun/cool!' I apologize. :D yea, the official reason for multi-cpu and …

Edit: Hah, might manage a little more DDR3 than 8MB, 8GB perhaps. It actually doesn't take much CPU or GPU to pull it off. I have used a Q35 4GB Q6600, the more, then more... Now I use dual Hauppage quad tuners, Debian xfce gnutv on a dual E5 's and lots of ram. I use 60GB tmpfs (yes 'G' and yes …

Re: How do you cool your "computing area?"

@CwF I had a small evaporative cooler many years ago. Two fans and 3L water tank. It couldn't cool my bedroom, but it did help me sleep when I put it on the bedside table. I have a real one, they go outside. Waterline, 3 panels, 1/2HP 2' squirrel fan, 25 years old. I can sit in the open porch …

Earlier in thread I mentioned my 94 R1100GS. Without a doubt one of the best calls I've made. I rode it yesterday, I'll ride it today. Fortunately I broke all the weak links before the unlimited mileage warranty expired. At 2-1/2 years I broke the shaft, 1st in NA they told me. It went back to …

Re: CPU benchmark for windows 98

I used NBench which I've never found online or mentioned since. It could do 1-20 threads for cpu/mem/disk. I think it came on a Byte magazine CD prior to W95. I used it on NT, but it worked on 9x, 2k, and XP. A nice compare since same software oin all cases.

The Caprice, the Roadmaster (91-96) and the Fleetwood (93-96) could be equipped to tow 7000lb,... It was only when these models were gone that the "Only trucks can tow" BS train really got moving, because it was hard to argue when the full size cars had the same damn engine, same damn gearbox, same …
