I just did a quick test on my own in DOSBox by mounting a network drive I have (mounted in OS X, hosted on a Linux server via Samba) and running "dir" on a directory with 3600 zip files for DOS games. I can't get it to work in either my current cvs or the stock 0.72 build. I have a Core 2 Duo Macbook Pro with 10.5.2. What kind of Mac do you have and what kind of keyboard do you have hooked up to it?

hehehehe... well that explains why it doesn't work for me then 😀 After futzing around I figured out all you have to do is switch the order of the includes for midi_coreaudio.h and midi_coremidi.h in the midi.cpp file and that solves the problem.

Okay by default it appears midi output on OS X goes through this new CoreMidi code. By forcing coreaudio in the dosbox.conf file, Midi begins to playback again. Can somebody give me some insight as to where coremidi came from? It sounds interesting... I assume it is still in development however.

It would appear in the CVS from February 6th, midi playback on OS X is broken. I see a new header file called coremidi.h out there... what exactly is that for?

Removing the SDL Event Flush seems to resolve the problem on OS X. As this is obviously not an optimal solution - I will look into dealing with this another way.

It doesn't appear that you are using DOSBox. In the event you are, feel free to post a camera shot of DOSBox after you have started it up and right before you are going to run the command to start Police Quest. That should clear up this little drama quite nicely.

Could you explain why the ripping/mounting work-around isn't pratical? I mean imgmount will mount raw bin/cue images with multiple tracks correctly. Can somebody explain to me why somebody who doesn't know DOS would be interested in DOSBox? I see a lot of these threads and to be honest: I just don't get it. Yeah I'm a Mac user as well, but I lived and breathed DOS and DOS Gaming for a large part of my youth, so well yeah.
