SB16 causes a 30% perfomance decrease in Doom.

So, installing an SB16- late model, 2950- in order to use it alongside another audio card because I want that sweet stereo sound. It uh, makes Doom slowdown. Not absurdly bad, but dangit I just bought a new VLB card /specifically/ to speed Doom up and this nerfs it, slowing it to as much as /5300. …

I cannot for the life of me get the Aztech and the SB16 to play together. SB music plays to /both/ despite them being on different ports and DMA addresses?!? So toss in this crap (CT2950) SB16 I have, turn off all the SB settings and emulation on the Aztech, and run it through the 16?

NSSI reports that the BLASTER Type is SB Pro, "Some SB Pro or compatible". Specific type: Sound Blaster 2. DSP 2.01 This card lied to me I thought it was 16 bit ;-; I find this odd though, what does that SB Pro TSR do then? What's an easy way to physically test for stereo sound?

SRQ , I presume the model number of your sound card I38-MMSN811? There was also another derivative with model number I38-MMSN815. Aztech cards with the AZT-1605 chipset are only Sound Blaster 2.0 (mono) compatible (in terms of the DSP), but all of them has an OPL3 FM synthesis chip (so you do get …

My DX2-66 is heatsink only, runs quite hot but it's never had problems.

Well my usages will basically be up to 93, 94. Doom, Doom 2, a few older games. From that period and then backwards.

You could try both, and then just see what one you use most. I suggest doing it like this: Install both, when you use an EAX game switch to the Live, and keep it that way until you switch to an A3D game. I'm using a straight 3DFX 12mb alongside a Diamond 12MB. They work flawlessly in SLi with modded drivers. I doubt the revisions will matter at all. As long as the memory matches, you should be good.
