Re: Am I the only one that gets pissed off about...

There is still a lot of industrial machinery in use that is either irreplaceable or would cost 10's of thousands of dollars to replace. $200 for a replacement motherboard is reasonable in those circumstances. It is also reasonable in the circumstance of how much it is to replace a motor vehicle or …

Re: Am I the only one that gets pissed off about...

I have to admit, it annoys me too. If having excess stuff lying around is the issue, then I personally donate it. Retro people ARE out there, even in my country. Never understood why some people always have to try and make a buck out of something..... On a side note, the idiots that try to …

Re: Why are BIOS updates so scary?

BIOS flashing never scared me. Even from Floppies. But then Ive never had a single failure. The only trouble I have is with older AMI BIOS flashes. They just refuse to start, despite having the correct flasher version & binary.

Good afternoon all, A recent issue with my X800XT PE AGP card has spawned me to share my experience with it. As it was immensely frustrating, but solved in the end. The card had previously worked & then started to fail by crashing the moment the actual drivers were loaded. The DVI connection …

Re: Gateway from 2000

If it's a good brand PSU, like a delta or fsp. 200w should be more than adequate unless you want to chuck in a voodoo5 or something 🤣 I have the same complaint with my SE440BX-2, its a very rudimentary board. Stable though, unlike some others Ive had.

Greetings from myself & the fleet

Good evening, Just another new member making his first post. =) First a bit of background; I am a Gen-Y so please forgive me if I cannot appreciate any hardware older than 386 (it's beyond the scope of my interest). Machine building has always been a passion of mine, and these days I am able to take …
