When it is a high value item like AUD 450 I would not buy it either. When it is a $10 or $20 item: could be worth a roll of the dice sometimes. I got a MT-32 for $10 including shipping that way 2 months ago. 😊

Another way to look at it is to consider it gambling. When you play in the casino one sometimes takes odds that are very much stacked against you in favor of the house. That is how I sometimes just "roll the dice" on sellers / items like this and sometimes I come out ahead / sometimes I do not. : …

Very often eBay works great I find. The problem with selling desktops versus parts is that few people are willing to pay $ for shipping so it may take up to 1 or even 2 year(s) to sell those. Good luck! 😊 Vintage Computer Forum works great as well sometimes. 🤣

Cool! You can either store machines or cash in by selling them 😊 I have a similar challenge. I currently have 3 8086s, 1 80286, 2 80486s (one defective), 1 Pentium and 1 Pentium MMX. Only the desktops (& 1 mini tower) though. I do not have all the CRTs and other stuff to go with it. 🤣

I give it away for free. 😊 I do not fix anything. I do not have the tools, skills and most items are not worth shipping / driving to someone to have it fixed. Things like NICs, PCI VGAs and such are really not worth the trouble.

You can also hook an XT up to another PC with a LAN card or LapLink cable (INTERSRV on host, INTERLNK on client). That is how I play lots of games on my 8086 / V30 with LAPC-I and MPU-IPC-T without any true game size restriction. Works great.

Awesome! I have a CT2230 and CT2290 with ASP/DSP with > 4.05. Lately I am thinking that a RAP-10 or SCC-1 suffices for GM when playing games. I am not sure any games use GS. I also find that not using a DB but a dedicated Roland principal card has really clear quality output.

Cool! 😀 I do not keep an eye out for CTs older than SB Pro. There are way too many different revisions. ASP / CSP is cool but pretty useless. I have a CT2230 & CT2290 with ASP / CSP.

The RAP-10 is one of my favorite cards. I like the concept for nostalgic reasons. And they are very common and affordable compared to SCB-7/55/SC(D/M)-10/15. I currently own 3.
