I remember playing Quake 3 with QNX, on my BP6 with a Voodoo 3. There was a version of the game ! 😀

Progress ! I baked the card, and changed the main capacitors. When the card is cold, Linux see it, but after a reboot it's already hot and no sign of life. so there are chances there's a bad solder. Need to reflow correctly ... Booting with "nomodeset" : #dmesg : [ 4.535280] [drm] VGACON disable …

Here's a funny card I have. Colorgraphic Predator LT 2 PCI, with 2 Savage 4 and a Hint bridge. Since there's Savage 4 , we could expect some minimal performances, but it's a piece of garbage. The only interest is it supports 2 screens natively, but I estimate the 2D performance as low as a S3 Trio. …

Maybe there's hope ! After baking in the oven, Linux tried to load the "radeon" module. Since the primary card is a (strange) Savage 4 Dual screen, it can only be the 9800. It failed to complete to boot, and the next one doesn't find it. Nothing in "lspci" . But it's better I suppose :)

Was it used without the fan? Any broken off ICs, SMDs or cut traces? I can't tell for sure. When I got it it was outside, under the rain. I have cleaned the contacts, of course, tried booting with only the card powered, so no hard disk or anything else , and no sign of life 🙁 I'm afraid there's no way to save it.

The 5 pins component on left of the heatsink is probably a voltage regulator. I can't read the reference. I'm quite sure we can find the datasheet and get 12 volts from it. Car window kit was used to modify Athlon XP in Athlon MP, so it should work. Be sure the mainboard is really compatible with this mod.

I had one in 1999/2000, with 2 Celeron 450 running at 490 MHz. With a Voodoo 3, it was great to play Unreal Tournament on Linux, FreeBSD or Windows 2000 😀

I have a strange behaviour with Voodoo 2 Sli. When used single, they both work perfectly in 800x600. In SLi mode, at first the image was correct in 800x600, but with bad colors in 1024x768. Now, in 1024x768, there's no more image, black screen and I have to hard reboot. What could be the reason ? …

Tried to fix one of my Voodoo 2, some pins are un-soldered. Managed to break one 😀 Will see tomorrow ... Those pins are small !!!
