The AWE64 cards aren't even good. They don't have a real OPL3 for older games, require a TSR for the synth and use crappy soundfonts. For $300 you can get a good yamaha soundblaster clone and multiple external midi modules. And if you really want to play around with soundfonts you can also get a SB …

The manual states that SCSI shares resources with the PCI slot next to the AGP slot, do you have anything plugged in there? Also did you enable option ROMs in general in the BIOS? I assume you also tried a CMOS reset?

Looks like the manufacturer deliberately set a default password. You will need to guess it (did you try IPC or Intelligent Personal Computer?), or dump the BIOS and try to find what it expects using a disassembler, or try a different BIOS from another 286 board. I havent tested DOS but the card works fine under Windows ME and its DOS prompt on my Via P4M800 based board

The ds12887A is not fully compatible with the ds1287A. Here's an example: https://www.vcfed.org/forum/forum/genres/late … 2991#post682991 If the BIOS did work with the old chip then the "new" one is likely the culprit
