We had a pair of Packard Bells with monochrome graphics in the math class in middle/high school. They were pretty much used solely for a port of space war, and moon lander. We had waaaay more fun with the Apple IIs in middle school. Especially Oregon Trail.

I loved that joystick! Many a game of Wing Commander, Tie Fighter, Red Baron, and Wings over Europe/Pacific were played with that. It was a shame to see it go.

Yup, DD was it. We used it, since we needed a bit for bit clone. We were using Linux, not DOS, so that's what we decided upon. I've also used imageblaster, and few other tools, but those are overkill for what subby is trying to do.

The thing is many old DOS games can only be purchased second hand. They aren't on Steam or GOG.com and nobody sells them new. Doesn't give you a lot of options. GOG.com seems to have slowed down with DOS based games and focusing on newer games. Quite a shame because there are still so many DOS …
