I'd go for cheaper, like a tnt m64 etc. econo video card, than use a voodoo3 or tnt2u, it'd be a waste to potentially burn either of these two.

Added results for DOSBox daum 1/25/15 build. Copy code to clipboard 1 3db pcpb ticks doom quake 2 560 324.9 294 254.05 168 tldr; it's faster than 0.74, speed comes from using d3d output instead of opengl.

If you could get cycle accurate you'd have something, roughly cycle accurate would put you on top, the others I've checked like pcem do specific systems but performance being quite off.

I downloaded 0.65 to bench but max cycles didn't work, would set to 2500 with "cycles max" and alt-f12 had no effect. I wanted to compare with my 3570k at 4ghz, it does from 159 to 162.5 with 0.74. edit: Ah, 0.65 uses "cycles auto." I surmise they're using 0.74 and just using an old graphic because …
