Nothing too special, just an ESS AudioDrive 1688F found at the bottom of the (rather empty) bin, next to some Dell and HP front bezels, some keyboards, and an ISA modem. One can never have enough ISA sound cards, IMO.

Socket A CPUs do have a tendency to burn up, especially if you don't apply thermal paste or mount the heatsink properly. I'm afraid that the CPU is more than likely dead, but the board might still be alive. I'd grab another CPU and see if the board still works.

I would say no, since V5s are gonna set you back a lot of money currently. If anything, I'd say get a V3 if you really want authentic Glide support, or, if you don't care as much about Glide, get something like a GF4 Ti and maybe use a wrapper.
