Hello guys, hows it going? I recently managed to desolder the old IDE connector from the packard bell. I am looking to solder a new IDE connector on, any advice? I have some old dead/crap motherboards laying about so I think I'll take off one from them. Also could you link me to a pinout for an IDE …

it says legend supreme 730 on the case but in the bios it says pb400

I bet if you went to the closest transfer station, you would find a lot of good stuff, especially if you're near a city. Heck, I live in the middle of nowhere and I still get got stuff. They also have shit tons of fax machines there. Try it, you'll find everything from computers, tv's, stereos, …

I'm thinking about getting a gravis gamepad for my retro pc. It has a game port on the mobo and on the sound blaster. How would I map the controls in windows 3.0? Also another question about networking. Are there any browsers for Windows 3.0? The packard bell has a built in modem. I could plug it in …

Yeah, when I first tryed arena I was thinking, "how in the holy hell do I get out of this dungeon", but now Im just like "ok, west...south...done!" But in those games I would play for hours and monsters would jump out and scare the shit out of me or make me yell.

Not to start a flame war, but I can't remember the last time Windows just crashed on me. Individual apps, yes but the OS doesn't blue screen all the time like it used to. That was a valid complaint in the 95/98/Me days, though. I like Macs as well but to say you can't get work done on a windows …

I found this in the bios. I don't have lots of experience with really old PCs but maybe this means i can do something to specify the hdd on the sound card?

its a 16 bit, got it off Amazon. I got it mainly because it has 3 IDE plugs. 1 hdd, 1cd rom, 1 floppy. it should arrive in a few days. What do I do once I get the card? How would i boot from the hdd on the sound card? Thanks.

I may try my soldering skills on another motherboard to get another IDE connector. Its a broken dell from 2004-05 so I'm not worried about anything bad happening to it.
