Every time I've seen that pink "pad" on the bridge chip I thought it was missing an heatsink but I didn't know it actually was released that way! But did drivers support Win9x?

So it seems that the 550Mhz that was theoretically released is quiet rare. Did Win9x/me 2D GUI speed benefits from these newer cards or they were already optimized for win nt subsystems? And what about VGA analog output? Was it improved in any way or previous cards already arrived at the top of the quality?

As choice what about a Matrox Millennium + Voodoo2 8MB? Seems quiet time correct and more compatible to me. But the Riva 128 PCI is still a great card too, I even ran Thief2 with its great D3D speed.

Well it seems that usual linux distro doesnt support these hardware completely so I will wait for it. To try Win9x I need to see if I can not overwrite the original os. By the way it is good to see 3dmark2005 running smoother than the last time I ran it on a desktop years ago.. :D Quiet impressive …

Writing speed, especially small files, will always be a bit of a weak spot. And I don't know what writing speed is acceptable, or at what point do you actually notice it. IMO reading speed is still much more important. Regarding transfer rate, on a Slot 1 system you are limited to 33 MB/s anyway, …

I've seen it exist some IDE to SDHC one with their own ICs and eprom. Considering how fast SD are nowdays (I've seen today some 150Mb/s... or even 95 read and 90Mb/s write), could these be even better for a Win9x build? Are they still limited from writing speed?

Update: bought a cheap Win10 7" Atom Z3735G tablet (500-1333Mhz 4 core). Running 3dmark2000 is really smooth but if I get to boot something from usb (man am I old... the uefi bios has an absurd amount of never heard settings...) I will try some linux (as I expect not so easy to) and older os.

I forgot to the 1GB ram problem... tablets and netbook all have from 1 to 2GB and I can't install ME directly... Virtualizing wasnt bad last time I tried but performance even with optimizations are mixed... seems fast but you can feel it's not as fast as it should be. Maybe the E350 wasnt the best …
