Re: Rendition V2200 vQuake benchmarks

in Marvin \ Video
EDIT: As a bonus, this BIOS seems to fix the problems with pressing CTRL+ALT+DEL - before, doing this would hang the system, but it works gracefully now, which is good considering quitting vQuake causes the system to hang. I am not sure if this will help in your case, but Quake and some other newer …

Re: EURO POWER PACK games list ?

They were also sold in Norway. I bought a few of them in the mid nineties and they came on blue 3.5" floppy disks. I have these: - 'Allo 'Allo Cartoon Fun - Bio Menace - Blade Warrior - Carnage - Commander Keen 4: Secret of the Oracle - Galactic Warrior Rats - Huckleberry Hound in Hollywood Capers - …

Re: DOSBox ECE (for Windows)

Qbix wrote: Btw is that with the unpatched build as well ? As that would make it a possible bug in our code I have now tested Hoyle 3 on a real DOS machine and the same thing happens there (and yes, also happens in the pure SVN build). I suspect this is an isolated issue with this particular game.

Re: DOSBox ECE (for Windows)

In Hoyle 3 you can bypass this problem by starting the game with: SCIDHUV -fw 0 0 200 320. Use lower case on -fw or you will get an error message. Tested with a few other SCI games and they seem to work OK (Eco Quest and Castle of Dr. Brain)

Re: Voodoo Banshee + Tomb Raider DOS

Could you post your Config.sys and Autoexec.bat contents? IIRC there should be some enviroment variables set in the autoexec.bat, there is for the Voodoo 2, but not 100% sure if they are needed for the banshee I am away at the moment and won't have access to my retro rig before the start of July. …

Re: ykhwong's latest build?

in DOSBox General
Isolated the bug within the menu code itself. I believe, not positive yet, that the cycles updating in the menu bar is causing the midi bug. To test this, run Ykhwong's build of dosbox with cycles=max, test the midi, then change to cycles=25000, and then test the midi again. It seems like fixed …

Re: ykhwong's latest build?

in DOSBox General
I have an issue with this latest build. Some games no longer work correctly with General MIDI. The games start fine, but no music. I have tested several Doom engine games that all exhibit the same problem (Doom, Doom2, Hexen, Heretic). Managed to get music on Doom some times, but rarely. Other games …

Gamecollector wrote: Well, F3 fixes BLACK borders. But the question was about white ones. Well, it fixes it on my system. I also got white flickering on the left hand and wireframes around the gunfire. Switching AA off with F3 fixes it. Maybe you mean F4? That toggles mip mapping off/on.

Re: Tomb Raider, 3dfx and white wireframes

Press F3. It looks like it turns off some kind of anti-aliasing. I think it look sharper and it solves the problem on my setup. I also have to switch the detail level from Mip Mapping to Normal to get rid of black lines beetween the floor tiles.

Re: Voodoo 2 DOS Glide compability matrix

in Marvin \ Video
I am sure it was working (on PIII450) as i was trying to figure out reason for blinking text. (too fast cpu btw). Got Dreams to Reality working as well on my 440BX system. Really strange that it crashes on all my Socket 7 systems, but works on this system. I guess it can be updated as running, but …

Weird AWE64 Gold problem

I have a weird issue with my Retro PC. It's been working fine for years, but suddenly all adlib sounds are very weak. I noticed this today when I played Commander Keen 4. The music/sound was barely audible. After some troubleshooting I've found out this low-volume issue affects all games using adlib …

Re: The All-in-One Retro PC

in PC Emulation
This is an interesting topic. Over the last two years I've gradually set up a system for the same purpose ( it takes a long time to find some parts ). This it the system I've settled for after many different hardware changes and tweaks. Pentium III-E 500Mhz (FC-PGA) IPOX 3BXA2 256MB PC-100 RAM …

Re: My new retro PC

in PC Emulation
Nice upgrades! :happyhappy: In the Windows 9x PC thread you also list a 12MB RAM upgrade for the AWE64. I'm just curious, is this an original Creative or a 3rd party addon for standard SIMMs? [...] so that I can use the 'Pro Patches Lite' set. I was mildly disappointed with the performance of the …
