Not needed, i get 5V directly from my Keyboard Jack on the Laptop. The Diode would drop some Voltage and Stop the Mouse from Working. if the 7805 is in Place you need at least ~6.5V Input Power. there is no reason to use a usb mouse at all, ps/2 is still on new mainboards, so you can expect that ps/2 mouses will still there in 2025.

You have a slow Videocard, the Tseng ET3000 is better suited for a 286/386SX Build. Do you have Cache Memory on your Mainboard ? Better get a Fast ET4000/CirrusLogic/Western Digital Card. The AWE64 needs CTCM Software to get it fully recognized by all Games.

You can optimize Oblivion to benefit slightly from Dual CPUs, i tested this with Dual 1Ghz Coppermines and got a nice Improvement from slightly chopping without tweaks, to fluid with tweak. (6800GT GeForce)

Unfortunately my current PC is junk. Your CPU is junk, swap it out for a 2800+ Sempron with 256Kb Cache, yours has only 128Kb. And the 2800+ overclocks often to 2,2ghz and was a nice budget performer. i played Dead Space, Mass Effect, Crysis, Fear 1 and 2 and many other Titles on it with a 8800GT …
