Re: Sound Blaster: From best to worst

Recent card i picked up, might possibly not be on the list yet/documented properly as i couldn't really find alot of info about it. Kind of an oddball though. Edit; Added the enclosure pictures/other end of the connector aswell, picture reference from here; https://www.vogons.org/viewtopic.php?p= …

Re: Final Fantasy VII AWE Ripping

Ok, what I had in mind is that the custom soundfonts were intended to sound good with all the default settings enabled, but I'm not sure I understood correctly the clean AWE64 track part, you mean by disabling the default settings / effects? Because I guess the one in the link I posted kept the …

Re: Final Fantasy VII AWE Ripping

so the reverb and chorus are disabled in these tracks, the reverb doesn't bother me as long as it is less strong than that of AWE64 from the link I posted, if you could record them with reverb & chorus that would be great too (and better to compare of course, since it seemed less strong from what I …

Re: Final Fantasy VII AWE Ripping

Thank you, it's recorded with an actual AWE32 card right?, if so then it confirms that there is too much reverb with the AWE64, here is "Still more Fighting" with an AWE64 Gold to compare: https://youtu.be/sndTUKlQkpU Yes, its recorded on a CT3900 with Dsp 4.04, same card as posted here; https:// …

Re: Final Fantasy VII AWE Ripping

Thank you, for the XG versions it's ok (I have a rip with a Yamaha MU90 and one with a DB50XG card and another that I made with foobar2000 and the yamaha S-YXG50 softsynth), I really like the most tracks but for some I prefer AWE with soundfonts. Thanks a lot for the AWE tracks, unfortunately they …

Re: Final Fantasy VII AWE Ripping

Here are some of the tracks you listed on original hardware (both the AWE and XG version) incase you want to compare them to a VST/emulated hardware. Thank you, for the XG versions it's ok (I have a rip with a Yamaha MU90 and one with a DB50XG card and another that I made with foobar2000 and the …

Re: Non reference voodoo3 card 3000 or 3500?

BTW i have this somewhat cheap YIHUA-898D soldering station (~50 usd) and the cheapest lead solder. Please dont use that to do board repair, it doesnt have the power/capacity to do a proper job and wil ruin either your board or chips. To do it properly use something like a Quick 861DW or Atten ST- …

Re: Hardware upgrades for CTM1740

Why would you want to do so, is it even noisy in your setup? Its not a given, even with the internal amp enabled. From what i know you dont want to go from electrolytic to tantalum, they both serve different purposes. Swapping out the CT1701 to a CT1703 wont work it's not compatible; https://www. …

Re: Sound Blaster: From best to worst

Recent pickup, Just wanted to drop this here since i haven't really seen much information about it. CT1730/40 with DSP v4.04, low serial. - Blue (Pass) sticker - Factory rework above the ISA slot - Capacitor arrangement left of the CT1701 is different - Less components under the wavetable header ( …

Re: DreamBlaster X16

Dont know where these are made for specifically. Arent your outputs suppose to sit on the wavetable connector side? (same with the X5) This because if it were to be used in an older soundcard the connectors will be right against the sockets which seems like a design-flaw.

Re: Retro Rig Photo Thread

Very nice build S95Sedan. I like the combination of old hardware with new cases like this, but I think the lack of enough drive bays on this case would drive me nuts. Will you be using any floppy drive or CD/DVD ROM for this build? Thanks. Yeah, i really like the combination of black with that …
