Think about it: the Windows version uses the more recent XWing vs TIE Fighter engine while the old dos expansion packs use the old engine. You can't expect a game to convert old models to now more complicated models with textures.

The game should run fine - it ran fine on my 2400+ and runs flawlessly on my 64 3000+. Are you using the official CD?

I play with the cracked version since it lets you use any CD you want, and when I was 16 and Worms was just released, my friend put on Watermark from Enya so I got so used to that music, I always use it when playing Worms. It's amazing how well On Your Shore suits the arctic theme.

Erm ... I played Stonekeep before without any problems. I don't recall if Stonekeep uses DOS4GW though but it's often this that causes a game to crash - if it does, use DOS32A instead.

Well, when you have hundereds of games, it makes quite a difference. Since I recompressed it all to RAR instead of zip, I've saved 25% space at least.

Looks very good - I'd be tempted to use it if I didn't work in a completely different way (I store all my games in heavily compressed rar files and I just extract them to my dos folder). I also have a special DOS menu which sets DOSBOX the way I need it to.

I have all three, lemme test them. EDIT: does this include the patches and CVS versions ? Or do I have to test with the original 0.65, which i'm not too fond of (because it lacks certain features I need).

You bet it is - mid-range Conroe CPU beats AMD top-end CPU and the Conroe only costs a third or less than the FX62. I usually don't go for super-fast CPUs but in this case I believe it's well worth the money. The jump in power is not to be underestimated.

The Conroe outperforms the FX-62. But it's hard to say - the 640x480 resolution wasn't even fluent on my P166.

Well I can already play Tomb Raider on my AMD 64 3000+ so the Conroe 6600 should at the very least double my frames seeing as it's vastly more powerful. I'm also looking into oc-ing the system from the start because I heard the new Conroe CPUs OC very well.

Yeah, and the fact that they cost a fraction of the top end AMD CPUs while being able to out-perform them ... definately a great thing for DOSBOX if the technology breaks through.

What I do that works is change fullresolution=original to fullresolution=1280x1024 (my native resolution). I'm not sure if it works with surface though since I always use Direct3D which is a seperate patch for DOSBOX.

I would kill for a 65000 colour patch 😜 the things I use it for wouldn't be so taxing anyway - but the 256 colours are annoying for Paintbrush for example. You can open 256 colour pics but can only use 16 colours to alter them.
