Reminds me of Quarantine - got the CD version, but can't find that copy protection cheet anymore. It was a dark red leaf, with black text on it, really hard to read if you didn't have the lights turned on. I copied it in Excell years ago to make it easier to read in the dark, but I lost that too :S …

I'm using the same build - but perhaps he's using a ripped version (which exists) which doesn't have VESA detection during installation? To be honest, I have very very few graphical problems in VESA anymore since a few months using the latest CVS's. I'm surprised at how many games I can play …

I think you'll find Resident Evil was NEVER released in DOS version. There was a version which had early 3D card support though, which is a pain to get to work on a current PC. So he was in the wrong place all along 😜

I get choppy sound in DOSBOX - but the game is very fluent now. How odd - I tried all the soundcards but no luck. The sound is even chopped up in the setup.

I'd say, create an image of the CD, and mount that in DOSBOX using imgmount. This way, it can't eject the "cd", and imgmount enjoys far better emulation.

Ah, that I could try - I have one of those nifty G15 gaming keyboards from Logitech with LCD screen (would be awesome if DOSBOX could show cycles and stuff on that display by the way!!) and keys that light up, so the software may interfere. I'll try disabling that!

I take it you don't have an LCD screen ;) if you had, you'd know what fuzzy edges I was talking about. An LCD screen has ONE native resolution, and any other resolution will deform the image. For mine it is 1280x1024 which means that LBA2 will have unsharp edges because it uses a different …

Well since the other versions I tried didn't even have a dosbox.conf, I doubt that would help 😖 I have 8 DOSBOX versions on my hard drive and I tried 4 of them with the same problem.

It's highly unlikely that any files extracted from a setup file are corrupt because it would throw up CRC errors all over the place. The problem is, DOSBOX IS the best way of playing LBA2 for me, simply because I own an LCD screen and the Windows patch makes all the edges fuzzy, making the game look blurry.
