Microsoft Space Simulator has a framerate counter you can enable by going to the preferences menu in-game.

Yeah, I recommend F-PROT too. I think the latest definitions for the DOS version are from 2006 but that's fine for DOS and earlier Windows malware. With it I just barely avoided infecting my NEC Ready 7022 when I tested a shareware disk of Hugo II that turned out to have a boot sector virus on it. …

I've been messing with the jumpers and floppy/hard drives for a while now, and honestly at this point is it safe to assume the card is just dead? I've even had some odd behavior happen a few times where at the POST screen I get some green garbage characters and the screen keeps scrolling down.

Take one step at a time: unplug the hard disk and remove it from BIOS. Confirm that the floppy type is correctly defined in BIOS and try to boot from it. Just tried that and it didn't work. FDD controller failure, and I do have the parameters set correctly (it's 1.44mb). You can see the FDD light …

Most interesting are VGA Games that use 16 colors but not the EGA-Palette, like GODS. And I'm pretty sure Prince of Persia falls under that category as well, right? Man, It'd be a shame for them to be scrapped. I've gotta say that I personally really like the look of the cases on older NEC computer in general (E.g NEC Ready, PC-98, etc.)

This also can be a 32 GB limit, some of the boards were limited to that. If your hard disk has jumpers for 32GB mode, worth trying that. If this indeed is working, you'll only loose a 1/4 of the drive space which is not that bad. On my W98 machine I'm using a 80 GB drive in 32 GB mode, loosing more …

Well, I fixed the HDD size limit! Someone else online has the same motherboard as me and found a newer PC Chips branded BIOS that works with it. Flashed it and now it detects all 40GB without needing a DDO. Shows the PC Chips logo instead of Energy Star, but it's worth it. https://omgwtfbbq.ca/2017/ …
