Filipped that little switch on the back of the PSU from 230v to 115v and got treated to a fireworks show. Not sure if that killed my 486 machine (which was my first PC) as I didnt check afterwards and just threw it out - something I really regret today.

I would have to assume that 2002-2004 hardware, like Radeon R300 with its DX9 support, would still be "usable" (as in stuff could start up and wouldn't give an error message right away) today with more casual and 'e-sports' games, as they are often DX9 - League of Lengends, DotA2 and other Source …

Aopen AX6BC fits this description pretty well and the documentation seems to confirm it (manual says it released in 1998). On the other hand, the board I have is dated 1999 and the bios is also from 1999.

Early XP era games don't scale too well on 16:9, so go for either 4:3 LCD or a plain CRT. Personally, I'd go with a CRT.

Isnt Glide just a cut-down version of OpenGL with some features (ones unsupported by 3dfx hardware) removed? I assume thats the reason why those games run so well, despite having to translate instructions.

Does anyone have any experience with SiS chipsets for socket 754? How does it compare to Nforce and VIA? Nforce seems to be the go-to platform, however those seem to fetch a higher price.
