I assume it is indeed a simple pass-through, so functionality in DOS will depend on the sound device on the laptop itself. You would need whatever driver is needed (if any) to get the sound card working, but you should not require a special driver to use the port on the port replicator.

Nit picking, but fighting games (MK, SF) are not split-screen - it's a single view for both fighters. They also don't have coop modes for the most part (but the fighting tends to be fun). 😉 Another game I recall competing in against a friend is Lotus: The Ultimate Challenge (split screen).

Personally, the issue I am most likely to encounter is that my DOS retro PC is in my parents' house, moreover - in my sister's room, and she is now between apartments, so a lot of her stuff moves back in with my parents temporarily, making the desk and the PC almost inaccessible. 🤣
