I'd rather trust documented group policy / registry keys, than mess with permissions of files in the Windows system directory. I got burned in the past when I screwed something up and the system could not get access to its own files, causing erratic behavior. And I am sure I am not the only one.

That LED simply indicates that there is power on the +5V Standby rail. It tells nothing about the other rails of the PSU or anything else about the general state of the board.

Those color coding stickers for the jacks in the Creative Audigy 2 ZS. By the time I realized what they were for, they were gone. Ever since I've been having to struggle trying to figure out which of the golden jacks is for what cable every time I have to unplug and replug something.
