Re: JATON JXM-10MHZ-V3, XT motherboard

Perhaps TLV_V220 will work with a certain jumper setting jp7 jp8 jp9. In my case, jp8 - includes access to UMB .jp7 - the address is selected from e000 - efff or d000-dfff. Jp9 - the use of memory modules 1024kb. Maybe you have other options. Try to use all the memory slots sipp and dip together. …

Re: JATON JXM-10MHZ-V3, XT motherboard

I tried out TLV_V220. As expected, it doesn't work on my board, since chipset is unsuported. CHIPSET.EXE just stops my machine. I found that turbo mode is switched (not minus!). So, first pressing - turbo is disabled; second pressing - turbo is enabled and etc. do nothing. I apologize for invalid …

Re: JATON JXM-10MHZ-V3, XT motherboard

EMS driver is specific for each hardware, it is not universal. Big chances, that our boards do not support EMS at all, additional memory maybe only for specific purposes, likely known cdisk.sys for JUKO XT. HIMEM.SYS is XMS driver, only for 286+ machines (it used CPU features for memory manage). …

Re: JATON JXM-10MHZ-V3, XT motherboard

EMS is just a specfication, the memory can be located anywhere, even on a separate computer device (->EMS card, swap file, another PC via serial cable). ;) Yes, I apologize. But EMS locations in non-UMB area, since a lot of adresses in it reserved for expansion ROM, VGA memory, EMS window and BIOS. …

Re: JATON JXM-10MHZ-V3, XT motherboard

denis74 , I afraid that hiram just UMB manager, it is not EMS. And it doesn't use specific hardware that locations on our boards. UMB manager potentially might produced more problems than fixed it, especially if your have a lot of cards with expansion ROM. Genuine EMS memory must be locations above …

Re: JATON JXM-10MHZ-V3, XT motherboard

Many thanks for BIOS image! Your BIOS is located in the last 8KB of image and different from my BIOS. My board equips Phoenix BIOS. Keys Ctrl+Alt +/- do not switch speed mode in my board. But speed always switchs to non-tuirbo mode after start CHECKIT memory test! I'll try make additional photos …

Re: JATON JXM-10MHZ-V3, XT motherboard

Anonymous Coward , maybe this board is previous version of my own board? Without chipset, only standard logic IC. On EMS issue, needs to look to BIOS screen or (even better) dump if its BIOS. denis74 , have you any documentation or/and drivers for your board? Has your board any label/name? Could …

Re: JXM-10MHZ-V3, XT motherboard

denis74 thanks! But if we have max lines MA8, then 2^(9+9) = 256KB max module size MA9 -> 2^(10+10) = 1024B max module size MA10 -> 2^(11+11) = 4096 max module size On may board adddress lines MA9 and MA10 are not connected and max module size is 256KB On your board at least 1MB modules are …

Anonymous Coward wrote: I'm curious if the chipset on this board supports LIM 4.0 EMS memory. If it does, it's possible that higher density SIPPs might work. Unfortunately, I have not SIPP modules more than 256KB, for check your idea. If I'll able to find them, I check and let you know!

Re: JXM-10MHZ-V3, XT motherboard

Super cool. This is the only time I've seen an XT motherboard with SIPP sockets. I would guess it only does 256kb SIPPs, so you can either max the board out with 1MB of SIPP or DIP RAM. Looks like the chipset is ACC Micro, a well known brand. Maybe you can even find documentation on it, unlike the …

JATON JXM-10MHZ-V3, XT motherboard

Hi all! Some month ago I got very unusual XT motherboard with SIPP memory (DIP also could be installed). Board name is JXM-10MHZ-V3, photo is attached. This board has "virtual memory" feature (as its BIOS wrote) 384KB, if 1MB of DRAM is installed(128KB, if we have 768KB of DRAM). "Virtual memory" is …

Re: My SS7 build is complete

Talking about the RAM, the motherboard has 1mb of cache, and its not clear if that means it can only cache the first 256mb of ram, or the whole 512mb. if your motherboard has the 1MB cache, it will cache 128MB of RAM with WB policy or 256MB of RAM with WT. But I see 4 cache chips on motherboard, it …

Re: 4GB of RAM in a Slot 1 system?

Didn't XP enable PAE by default even on VIA chipsets? VIA P3 SDRAM chipsets (VT82C694X/T) don't support PAE. On DDR VIA P3 chipset - I do not know exactly, since I haven't datasheet for it. I guess it doesn't support PAE also. I know in 2000 it is usually enabled by default in the server version. …

Re: 4GB of RAM in a Slot 1 system?

Even if the VIA 694X chipset can take 1GB DIMMs, I doubt you would be able to use all of it even with PAE enabled. This reminds of AMD K7 which supported PAE but no chipset that actually supported 36-bit addressing was probably ever released (I think API and Hotrail was going to release some before …

Re: 4GB of RAM in a Slot 1 system?

The tech docs for VIA 694T say 2GB max and 8 banks max. It is not -advertised- as supporting Registered RAM at all. Only ECC. I think part of the reason for the 2Gb limit is that 1Gb modules only came as Registered at that time. . The VIA694X/T and even 693A (693A with a limit for memory density) …
