Re: Reviving an IBM Thinkpad 300

Now the motherboard left the chassis it was time for the harddisk to be removed. The few times the notebook actually started a bit the drive made a severe knocking sound so I assume it's heads are stuck or crashed. :dead: Top view of the harddisk: http://i171.photobucket.com/albums/u284/Haleluja_nl/ …

Re: Reviving an IBM Thinkpad 300

I had great interest in the power section on the bottom board, knowing that the Thinkpad 300 was manufactured by Zenith and in being made there every unit had to be repaired first prior to being sold.. contrary to the Thinkpads that later followed this model. This unit has clear traces from re …

Re: Reviving an IBM Thinkpad 300

To remove the floppy and harddisk it was necessary to remove the processor board first, and after removing all screws and lifting the board out it looked still pretty neat. Topview of the processor board showing the video/power&I/O board below it: http://i171.photobucket.com/albums/u284/ …

Re: Reviving an IBM Thinkpad 300

If the main battery was still in this shape it had to be the "Standby battery". Removing the topcover with LCD assembly revealed the first loose broken piece as you can see on this picture. http://i171.photobucket.com/albums/u284/Haleluja_nl/IBM%20Thinkpad%20300/20160321_2328211_zpssnsclpve. …

This thread goes about the IBM Thinkpad 300 I got. The thinkpad 300 was the first in the 300 …

Hard question but these come to mind in order of impact: Total Annihilation (including all expensions and add-ons): Huge RTS, the only in it's kind, even when I really like the C&C and Blizzard ones to. It cooked my early computer mulitiple times (dust + 35 degree Celsius summers..) As soon as the …

Re: S3 Vision968 vs. Mach64 for VLB

Interesting. Do you have a photo? What are the sustained transfer speeds over the network compared to PCI 10/100 and ISA 10/100 cards? I don't have them anymore, they came from a company bankruptcy where lots of old systems had to be erased and destroyed some years ago. Iirc they where from BOCA as …

Your Number 9 S3-968 performed worse than my test results in all cases, with the exception of a 3% increase in the Landmark score. The decrease in performance in your system is likely due to the L1 being stuck in WT mode as opposed to WB mode. This makes me wonder the benefits in using an EISA …
