The direction I'm wondering about is Vsense across the resistor (if it exists), directly extracting the rail currents.

If WDS is bridging to another wireless device, I would expect less than 50% (TX and RX for every packet, less overhead). I would expect some overhead as the router listens for clients, but if there are only wired devices connected it should be closer to client mode. Maybe worth a test...

Well, you can include the mount command in the conf file, before trying to switch to the C drive.

There is one youtube video that I could find demonstrating the hanging note bug (search "hanging note bug") and I'm not sure I could hear it. There seemed to be some low volume high pitched squeals but I wasn't sure *that* was the bug. Any other sound clips that you're aware of that demo it well? …

The VIA DOS drivers work for everything up to the VT8231 south bridge, so care must be taken in choosing boards. I've used the driver on a KT133 board with decent success, but I still prefer ISA cards for maximum compatibility.

You don't need WDS. You need a router that can use client mode. WDS is a low performance way to extend WIFI coverage, akin to using a WIFI extender.
