Re: Native PS/2 mouse implementation for 386/486 boards using the keyboard controller

Yes the BIOS and the Keyboard Controller need to support it. Maybe a Driver could also work without BIOS Support. Ah yes, this is true. In particular without the AMIBIOS modification I believe feipoa had a modified NTDETECT.COM and such to detect a PS/2 mouse even though the BIOS claims there isn't …

Re: Native PS/2 mouse implementation for 386/486 boards using the keyboard controller

I've been struggling to get and optical mouse working on my 286 without an externally powered dongle, and with Rio's situation, I can't just buy another ISA PS2 card, so I'm wondering if this would with with my 286? It's a DTK motherboard (PTM-1636c) with the PC Chips F82C235 chipset. I found the …

in DOS
Hello. update... No picture but hard drive was properly recognized by BIOS. I tried to hook up the HD to a modern computer via USB and create a partition with Minitool Partition Wizard ... The DOS<->BIOS interface can only handle 1024 cylinders. Translation pretends there are more than 16 heads to …

Re: Yet another 286 build.

Well I don't know how, but thought I would try the 4mb modules again since I have been playing with the RAM and the jumpers, and well it now works, I now have 16mb of RAM in the 286, total overkill! When I pull the motherboard out to solder the crystal sockets might also check the simm sockets, as …

Re: Yet another 286 build.

Had a play and populated the socketed RAM, also there is a horrible option in the BIOS '384KB Memory Relocation' which makes the upper memory extended if enabled, which really confused any upper memory manager I tried to install. The result 1mb base, 4mb extended and with the LoTech 2mb EMS, so not …

Re: Yet another 286 build.

Okay, so what I thought was going to be a simple build has thrown some curve balls at me. 1) ET4000 with no modifications acchives 6.8fps in 3D Bench v1.0, so thought that I would try some other cards to see if I can get a litter more performance and well, it hates my 'modern' ISA cards, system …
