Re: Heads Up: Roland Sound Canvas VA VSTi Plugin!

Just stretching my Greys and Whites... learned about Midi in the past days more than I knew or wanted to know. All the better nonetheless. EDIT: A final Reset.mid version is uploaded wich will reset absolutely all SC-VA setting to default. Using all RPN, NRPN, Controller settings available …

Re: Heads Up: Roland Sound Canvas VA VSTi Plugin!

I have updated this post http://www.vogons.org/viewtopic.php?f=46&t=46111&p=468122#p468122 with the latest Reset.mid which will reset Pitch Sensitivity and Master Key. Also, I added a small instruction that will disable a Map change through midi files which is important, as I've noticed that many …

Re: Heads Up: Roland Sound Canvas VA VSTi Plugin!

Nah, all the Chorus, Reverb, Pan, Level changes work flawlessly without SysEx. All the automation of the sliders I've checked works and I can see the sliders move according to the midi played. Although they CAN be moved via SysEX, the basics (Level, Pan, Reverb, Chorus, Control Wheel, Expression, …

Re: Heads Up: Roland Sound Canvas VA VSTi Plugin!

AND... Here is a midi file I created which will turn all the sliders to default position without sending a reset command. Level 100, Pan Center, Reverb 40, Chorus 0. After playing a game just run in with any midi player (vanBasco Karaoke Player, is good). Enjoy! EDIT: The Reset File is …

Re: Heads Up: Roland Sound Canvas VA VSTi Plugin!

Adding to Philscomputerlab post using SAVIHost to use the SC-VA plugin; To force SC-55 map in dosbox, start the SAVIHost SC-VA plugin and click on the PlugIn tab, click Filters, mark SysEx. Go into "Control Changes" by pressing the "..." button near it, select 000 and 032 (use ctrl), press OK, mark …

Re: Heads Up: Roland Sound Canvas VA VSTi Plugin!

@Silanda I agree that the mix balance and instruments timbre will not be identical if playing music composed on SC-55 , on a SC-88 and up, but it will be perfectly listenable. Also, every successive model of Sound Canvas supports the previous model sound map which will sound almost exactly like the …

Re: Heads Up: Roland Sound Canvas VA VSTi Plugin!

The drums are completely new on the 8820. In the 8820 manual: http://lib.roland.co.jp/support/en/manuals/res/1811335/SC-8820_e3.pdf Starting from page 107 and down you can find the difference between all the maps and what instrument were kept from what version. On page 127 You can see the Drums. As …

Re: Heads Up: Roland Sound Canvas VA VSTi Plugin!

google "contact roland" http://www.rolandcorp.com.au/company/contact_us EDIT: I've sent a complaint email to rca.support@roland.com I urge as many people to do the same, and put emphasis on NOT buying the full soft until this is fixed. Hi. I downloaded the Trial version of Sound Canvas VA, and found …

Re: Heads Up: Roland Sound Canvas VA VSTi Plugin!

Thanks Phil! Alert! With this first release version of SC-VA if you use dosbox all you'll hear are the 8820 samples even though SC-VA shows differently. I have no idea why this being ignored but I'll post samples to solidify the known bug. Also, don't press the reset button because it'll also stuck …

Re: Heads Up: Roland Sound Canvas VA VSTi Plugin!

MMaximus, That is because in your SC55VA recording the SC-VA using the 8820 sound map, not the sc-55. It's a bug in this v1.000 release version.. like all freshly released Roland software. When the SC-VA receives a Reset command or forced reset through the System submenu, it is stuck on 8820 sound …

Re: Heads Up: Roland Sound Canvas VA VSTi Plugin!

Also, SC-55 was the first hardware that had a full general midi sound set so everything midi was composed on it. Later came Yamaha and Korg with synthesizers (piano) which supported general midi (GM). As phil said, they all support GM but Sound Canvas was the "go to" hardware all composers used …

Re: Heads Up: Roland Sound Canvas VA VSTi Plugin!

I have to play around a bit more. Currently I'm in AWE at the sound this thing generates  This deserves a video tutorial I think :) EDIT: In Privateer, the SC-88 Pro mode appears to sound more "epic". I can certainly change the mode, reset it, that seems to work fine. Well folks, Phil is in …

Re: Heads Up: Roland Sound Canvas VA VSTi Plugin!

Whoa, this is definitely some sweet news, and I will no doubt be giving this a try! I may not be needing that SC-8850 anymore...:U From what I hear and compare with youtube, neither do I ! Besides, the Sound Canvas defined the General Midi standard more so than any other company. I've been …

Re: Heads Up: Roland Sound Canvas VA VSTi Plugin!

Yes, it works with any midi input. I use a small software called loopMIDI to rout all midi playback to an input which I use in my DAW (Sonar) with the Sound Canvas. I have the old Edirol Virtual Sound Canvas and the newer Editrol HyperCanvas, but none of them comes remotely close to the the new …
