In general, the cooler the better. Check that fans are all functional and spinning at their maximum speeds. You can put in more powerful case fans. See the amperage of the existing fans and get something stronger (e.g. replace 0.8A with 1.6A). This will mean more noise though. Check for accumulated …

It's probably for a docking station. In those days laptops often had compatible docking stations with full length slots for expansion cards that could be used by the laptop when it was connected. You may want to see if your model ever had one.

Yes, POD (1997) is the same. Jerky sound on a 1 GHZ PIII. Runs fine on a 200 MHz Pentium MMX.

sounds like a conventional memory problem (0-640K) not EMS/XMS Programs sometimes malfunction in DOSBox if they encounter too much free conventional memory. Try running the program with LOADFIX, e.g. LOADFIX PCX.EXE

We're both wrong. It's actually CTRL+C, at least for the CD-ROM version. Strange, I was sure there was no quit option. Can someone check if this also works with the original floppy release?

The original Doom was the scariest game ever. Playing the Doom II Aliens TC for the first time was also quite memorable. Quake didn't scare me at all. Doom 3 was just boring. Nothing has ever compared to playing Doom I for the first time.
