Re: Choosing graphics card for Pentium 200 rig

That sounds like it could be a crappy cable, dirty connector or a monitor that's on the fritz, actually. Well, other computers looks just fine on the same monitor, using the same cable, and now I found out that other graphics cards got the same interference problem in the p200, so I don't know …

Re: Choosing graphics card for Pentium 200 rig

Managed to pick up a bunch of graphics card for next to nothing, of which a few were PCI ones. Now I have to choose one of them to replace the Trio64+ in my Pentium 200 rig, its video quality is absolutely horrible. May I ask you what was so absolutely horrible about your Trio64s? Of course. First …

Re: Choosing graphics card for Pentium 200 rig

Hah, since all the alternatives has been suggested, it seems like I'll just have to try them out one by one. Was hoping to avoid that, but then again, experimenting might be what the retro computing hobby is all about :) @Tetrium, it's a Gigabyte GA-586HX, no AGP. Would have been easy then, got a …

Choosing graphics card for Pentium 200 rig

Managed to pick up a bunch of graphics card for next to nothing, of which a few were PCI ones. Now I have to choose one of them to replace the Trio64+ in my Pentium 200 rig, its video quality is absolutely horrible. Primarily I want compatibility with older DOS games, secondarily decent video …

Re: Linux and graphic cards installation

Thank for your post. I already have installed that package when I tried the Radeon R100 and it was looking for that microcode firmware. :dead: I begin to think something is also related to the "alias" that call the module from the xorg conf. I didn't install any other drivers only the one already …

Re: Linux and graphic cards installation

My guess is that you simply forgot to install the correct (proprietary) firmware for your card. Add the non-free repository to /etc/apt/sources.list (if you like, you could add the contrib repo while you're at it). Don't forget the update repos. It should look something like this, basically you just …

Re: Small ATX Case

You might also want to check out the Silverstone Grandia GD09, if you want a desktop case. I have the Eilte 361 as well, and the volume is quite small for an ATX case, but mainly because of its width and height, its depth is comparable too much bigger cases, mainly because the PSU is placed in the …

Re: Small ATX Case

Thanks for the tip...those may be exactly what I am looking for, specifically the desktop conversion as that would fit into my TV stand nicely... You mentioned the 360 was a little smaller....is it enough to cause the heat issues you arent seeing with the 361? I only ask as the smaller but still …

Re: Small ATX Case

Using CM Elite 361 for my ATX retro rigs. I'd say it's as small as it gets if you want ATX and full size GPUs. The PSU placement is somewhat peculiar, assuming they had to do that to squeeze everything in, but that's really the only thing you'll have to consider if you can live with or not. Oh, and …
