morphos + amigaos have 'classic' emulation built in, you can mount old amiga disk images and such. How accurate is said Emulation I am curious? it depends, morphos reimplements the amiga 3.x api, it jits 68k code into ppc code, so good written stuff just works, stuff that hits the hardware is …

I fixed the bios to max 512kb, and all my dos6.22 loaded with bare bones nothing configs, no umb no nothing. still getting lockups. it was as if I made no changes.

The AmigaOS4 stuff is.. so niche inside a niche, most hobby amigans dont even have it or hardware capable of running it. Been a long time since PPC stuff was made, ACube made some SAM boards but they were expensive and underpowered, etc. There is MorphOS you can run on old MAC's to get the Amiga PPC …

I would probably pick non prototype parts as the basis, things to actually have a chance at obtaining rather than things someones best friends sisters uncle saw mentioned once in a trade magazine photo.

its a passive picmg backplane. its not any format, its a passive 5 slot. you need a industrial chassis or a 5 slot shoebox chassis for it.

one thing nobody has mentioned is you need to be using the phoenix implemention of LBA, most mobos switched to it. IF you can get to 'Starting MS-DOS' and it hangs, its loading part of the disk but not others, which points to a geometry problem which to me screams LBA issue.

88VL is just a smaller standard 88. you should have no issues. I have an sc88vl (white) but not tried it via serial midi, only using roland usb-midi on windows and direct midi in dos via gameport
