I think one step at a time all! Amazing Serdaco has found all the chips, got the schematics to make sense etc etc. Lets see if this works electronically as a basis for whatever is next.

From what I gather from Serge guys it's down to parts cost and availability, as well as the amount of modification required. Remember that at this stage, without Xu's approval otherwise, it can only be a "community project" not a commercial product. I also know that Serge obtained the 90deg. …

Ah while I have you cyclone3d.... would you be able to email serdaco the Altium PCB layout? There has been issues in finding it. I think he has managed to access the original files, but it may help with troubleshooting.

In my defence that was for a lot of 8, BRAND NEW sticks. Your listings were both USED single sticks.

Thank you once again my vogonites for supplying something rare! I'm about to acquire an MS-5169 rev 4.0 myself. Initially I have a K6-2 550 but have managed to order a "new?!" K6-III+ 450 (seems to be the last found in UK) and keen to try all I can!

Your likely problem is the SB Pro support installing. It's probably trying to use an IRQ which is being used by something else. You should be able to boot into Safe Mode, and in device manager, in the "hardware" tap for the Aureal AU8810 SB Pro Emulation - change the "resource configuration profile" …

I guess "chip" wise, the Vortex 2 (or AU8830) processes A3D 2.0 in hardware and little bits of A3D 3.0, whereas the Vortex 1 (AU8820) only processes A3D 1.0 in hardware, which sadly is the level also emulated by other slightly later cards such as anything by Creative (SB Live / Audigy / X-Fi). So …

I know what the specs say for the Aureal card.... but I wonder if the 233MMX is too low-clocked for it in real world conditions? I'm sure I've read somewhere about a 300mhz CPU for certain portions of the card.

Not everyones cup of tea (not even mine really) but I can confirm that Star Trek: Elite Force II supports A3D 3.0 - the downside is that it has a 32mb graphics card requirement.

Full marks to the Aureal SQ2500 in terms of DOS compatibility in that case (being PCI) - you can even pass-through to a General MIDI "Waveblaster" compatible wavetable daughterboard. It's a case of copying "au30dos.com" and the SET BLASTER parameters, adding "P=???" for a waveblaster.

Not sure if you got the answer you want but Creative actually have their OWN emulation package. If you have a Realtek chip on board, they sell a thing called "MB3" and it gives you EAX Advanced HD. Works on Windows 10 but a bit oddly, was designed for 8.1

This may have all been mentioned but I had one of these boards, it was released late in the SS7 era and it's really focused on the AMD K6-2 / K6-3 chips (whatever the manual says!). This maybe why you are struggling with multipliers for "proper" pentiums.
