Here's hoping!

in DOS
I certainly hope someone comes up with a fix for System Shock on 2k/XP since it's a game that should be savoured in perpetuity by future generations of gamers. You can trace such classics as Half-Life or Deus Ex directly back to SS's distinctive gameplay format and seminal style! But the game's …

Oops!

in Windows
All the patches (and indeed the extra tracks and cars) are still available from UbiSoft. However they are not linked off their website. Go to ftp.ubisoft.com and you'll find the force feedback patches in the /PodUpgrade/Patches/FeedBack directory. The patch I used that didn't work reliably was the …

Fixed it!

in Windows
I found out that there are actually two different FF patches for POD. The other patch has fixed all the problems I was having. Great game and great visuals for its age!

POD and USB ForceFeedback Controllers

in Windows
Perhaps this belongs on the ROGOQOS (Rather Old Game On Quite Old System) site but there you go. I recently reinstalled POD which is a game I played a lot years ago. I have Voodoo2 SLI so I installed the 3dfx patch and, since the game wouldn't run without it on this system, the "ForceFeedback" patch …

Using compatibility mode in XP, it's automatic and reverts back to my normal screenmode when I quit the game. Very nice. You …

Re: Flight unlimited

in DOS
Try running the vesa12 and 6bitdac files I've pointed to above before running the game. You'd probably have to reboot to get them out of memory after playing the game in Windows though. This game really cries out to be run in DOS mode outside of Windows 98. If you have DOS mouse, CD-ROM and sound …

Back to VESA and Duke3D

in DOS
This thread over at 3DRealms has details of a VESA mode launcher for Duke Nukem 3D that some may find useful- http://forums.3drealms.com/ubb/ultimatebb.php … ic;f=3;t=004479 Sound is still a struggle though.

Flight Unlimited and GeForces

in DOS
Just thought I'd post to point out that Flight Unlimited 1 (the DOS version although there was a Windows 95 version of FU1 which I haven't tried) doesn't work with GeForce cards AFAIK. To fix this I have to use two utilities from here- http://unirefresh.demonews.com/videoproblems/index.html and this …
