If you don't know, 440ZX chipset is cutdown based on 440BX. So 256Mb density is not possible with this ZX chipset. Another chipset is 815 if there was a slot 1 board but I have not seen one yet. Keep in mind ATX board is 12" length, while the uATX is 9.6" length. Not much to save on space and …

I just measured pins from PCI connector that were 5v and used those to power a 12v fan to cool my V3 2000 PCI that has 3000 BIOS flashed onto it. No problems at all and fan runs nice and quiet. Hate loud whining fans (no pun intended)..

You can try the card without caps no problem (it will not cause damage) but make sure that all legs on the chips do not touch each other.

Gee, I think I just said earlier that every Slot 1 board supports 1.8volts 😁 It is below 1.8 volts that only boards that support Coppermine provide, above that no problem.

It will not damage the board. You have to set voltage to 1.8volts on the adapter.

Mine was regular 300GL without AGP (and I later unsoldered AGP from dead motherboard and soldered it to unpopulated AGP slot, worked nicely with Geforce 2 MX).

There is even aftermarket Thinkpad mainboards built by enthusiasts for T4x/T6x series with newer i7 based hardware. It is just a matter how how much demand there is and whether there is a guy enthusiastic enough to do this.

300GL will work nicely with Coppermine and you can easily set 1.8v on the adapter and run it that way. Have done this previously several times before, no problem. And it will run at 100 Mhz also if you either have jumper for FSB on the adapter or mask pin on Slot1 connector. I once tried Tualatin …

Performance wise it is not an upgrade to have Voodoo2 (even in SLI) compared to Ti4600 but it is mostly to play many Glide games with their intended graphics (which looks really good). Not to mention it is just cool to have 🙁

IMO only proper choice whould be some BX based board from Asus (P2B, P3B-F) or other known vendor. BX handles 133 mhz FSB easily as does Voodoo 3 the 89 MHz AGP bus soeed that comes with 133 MHz BX. Would never settle for half-assed chipsets from VIA. Of course if you find some i820 or i840 board it …
