The second board may also work with drivers for the Orchid SoundWave 32 or Wearnes Beethoven ADSP-16 as they are very similar.

People don't like being lied to. And if you are a collector or rarities why bother using the original disks when there are images around to run. Besides if they did check the contents, they might be able to detect a fake if the code is wrong (file dates, length, etc.) so it's easier just to say the …

I have an XT clone with DOS in ROM. It's mapped to the upper memory area with only the bare minimum files (io.sys, msdos.sys, command.com). It's a neat trick but really only useful if you don't have a hard drive.

It's not really different than any other kind of collecting. The card itself is rare. Anybody paying that much is a collector, not somebody who just wants to play old games. Just like collectors will pay a lot more for a documented "numbers matching" classic car with no different driving experience …

If you are putting an M2 SSD in a retro system, you've probably got the RAM maxed out as well. Doesn't make sense when you could easily just stick it in a drive bay adapter. If you don't have any free bays then stick it on the side of the case.

That is the original MIF-IPC. The MIF-IPC-A has the ICs rotated 90 degrees.

The internal battery of the Dallas 12887 is not rechargeable. When you do the external battery mod you need to cut the connection to the internal battery. Have you tried removing the cache from the board?

Doubtful that it's an SB Pro clone since they would need a time machine. Could be two SB 1.0 clones for left/right, or maybe something completely incompatible.

Early versions of Mosaic only supported GIF. Which is probably the best choice anyway.
