Can you also check: Remove all cables except Power from the drive. Power on. Is the sound /LED flashing different or is it the same as with cables connected?

BIOS settings seem to be OK, but the drive still is not recognized. Can you try to remove your ISA I/O controller? If not, I would give the WD1004A-WXl a chance. In the best case you will be able to access the 1st 21mb of the drive...
