I'd stay away from anything rechargeable. As OP said, just solder some wires to a CR2032 socket and stick it to the board with some hot glue. Easiest is to use a CompactFlash card and mount it as a disk in VirtualBox on any PC and install away. Second easiest is to use an IDE-USB adapter and do the same thing.

OK, I got it! If I run it with "tentacle.exe s220/5/8 g330" it works perfectly, even while running the CPU at full speed. I get voice/sound effects and the sweet general MIDI from the SCC-1. The -5V is only required for some sound cards. But, why not avoid all that hassle and just use a regular AT supply? They're not that hard to come by or expensive.

You can get desoldering stations that are not that expensive. I have a ZD-915 and it works great. I paid like 70 Eurobucks for it.
