Yes a Cyrix 5x86 is a good match for a PCI board. That is one reason I settled on it. I don't think that the AMD cores are inferior to Intel's cores. Unless I miss my guess other than WB/WT and microcode (N or no N) the cores are very nearly identical.

Might try ComboFix for a Vista machine. It's aggressive but should scrub it well. Then maybe not take this machine online. It is full of vulnerabilities.

98SE would be my pick. ME you lose the (easy) method of exiting to DOS. 2000 and XP are not necessary unless you are using something that can utilize more than 1 CPU core, my opinion of course.

My money goes on either the Cyrix or the Am586, depends on what they clock to. I doubt that the DX-4's will perform as well. Either from Intel or AMD. My 100GP is very stable at 40x3 and walked all over my AM486 DX4-100
