and other 1996 3D cards including the Virge never promised such performance. Virge and 3dfx were never direct competitors to begin with. Voodoo 1 was not a video card and Voodoo Rush was a joke. It started to get really toasty for S3 after Riva 128 and Rage Pro were released.

Worth the money? Not really. AFAIK it's useless outside of professional applications, like flight simulators. But it's relatively small amount of money for someone with a good income. And not like you'll have a chance to buy Mercury brick often. But hey, you can use them as 4 separate Voodoo 2 SLI …

Yes, obvious fake. Marking won't go so easy from a genuine CPU and there's slight difference in ceramic color. people will go pretty far to fake If it's relatively popular and sought after and can be easily faked - it would be faked without a doubt.

There might have been something about VLB allowing direct access to system RAM, faster than the ISA DMA Typical I/O cards don't have DMA capabilities, only PIO. So real difference between such cards is rather small.

The a7v333 only goes up to an xp3000+ and only supports a 1,5V agp card Wrong. That's A7V333-X.

Also late revisions had 125 Mhz EDO memory and potentially could be overlocked quite high, if V2 chips are capable.

AGP 2.0 only MBs with the universal AGP slot" cases were a) Intel chipsets only and b) Pentium 4 chipsets only (850 and 845). Also late SIS and VIA motherboards for P4.

Quantum cards use Medusa cable. Not easy to find now, but relatively easy to replicate. You can still use them via TV-out though.

You shouldn't have any problem getting to DDR 533 on decent ram. With 512 mb RAM sticks - yes, plenty of RAM, which is capable. With 1 gb RAM sticks - no, only Samsung or Infineon chips and your luck may vary, 3-3-3-8 is bit too optimistic.

Some driver issues which hog CPU time too much, most likely USB Sound Blaster. OS itself has nothing to do with it. Pentium 3 itself also has nothing to do with it. P3 is more than capable to run Win2k/XP.
