I have a separate capture card Elgate Game Capture HD which I can use to capture from DVI source (DVI>HDMI cable). I have PCI & PCI-Express slot. The purpose would be for capturing from VGA source (WIN95/DOS); would the older card DGC103C be the best option then ?

At 640x480 the original HL1 should run well on a P3 550 Mhz with Radeon 9000. Back in the day I was running the game on a Celeron 600 Mhz, 64 MB RAM and an Intel i810 4mb VRAM GPU and got OK performance (not 60 fps though). I think best Nvidia AGP for Win98SE would be something around a Geforce 4 TI 4200 AGP. IMO If you need anything more powerful you're better off running Windows XP using a PCI-Express card, most games will be compatible anyway.

Your motherboard seems to have an ISA slot. I would drop an AWE 64 soundcard in there for compatibility with most of the older DOS platform games.

It depends but I think if you're looking to get max. performance out of the Voodoo III I would go with the PIII 933 Mhz because the Voodoo III benefits really well from higher cpu speed. The others would bottleneck the Voodoo III more.

What's the reason to have 2 different systems DX8.1 & 9.0 ? Personally I would just install DX9.0 and add a Radeon 9800 PRO or XT on this machine as your CPU was released around the same time ... Most if not all DX8.1 games should be compatible anyway..

My card GTX 275 had the same issue, after around 4 years it broke. I think it's due to the card running too hot in combination with poor soldering.

Nice, I also have a GX110 laying around , together with a GX100 and a GX1 . Gonna do a similar system in the future. Was wondering where you got that riser board with ISA slots for the GX 110 ? I only got one for the GX1, GX100 & GX110 ISA riser boards seem more rare ?
