Go to the midi port matrix screen. You can select which port each channel goes to. Port "C" is the daughter board.

GZDoom allows you to choose any MIDI device you have connected. It recognizes and lets me choose between all 6 output ports on my Yamaha UW500.

The PLG150-DR has 32 polyphony by itself. Compare that to say an SC-55 which has less polyphony and has to split it into 16 different parts. The MU2000 has 128, but again it has to split that up among everything. So yes, the DR drums are going to sound quite a bit punchier then the old standard kit. …

No idea on the HardMPU, if you have a sound card with a standard 15pin joystick port, I'd recommend just using that. Also how are your cables connected? I think Doom is one of the games that does weird things if you have the SC-55's MIDI ouput connected to the computer's MIDI input. You should only …

I have the UM-550 and I quite love it. The UM-880 is the king of the castle, but they are pricey. The A-880 is a solid choice. Typically Yamaha/Akai/Kawai patch bays are cheaper, especially on Yahoo Auctions, but it really depends on what features you want.

CM Mode on Yamaha modules has the same issues as on Roland SC units really. Just get a proper LA based module to suit your needs, or use MUNT.

There were various revisions of the CM-300 (and also CM-500) as well. Older units only have the GS mark, while later units have both the GS and GM marks on the case, just like SC-55 MkI's did.

AFAIK, Yamaha just has one USB-MIDI driver that works with all their USB-MIDI based devices. As the UW500 is generally considered obsolete (10bit DAC), they probably just never bothered to add the Win10 line to it's download area. Now, I use Win 7, not 10, so I can't comment on that. An XG or GS reset will not change the system settings (like digital gain, mu100 native, etc). But a full System Reset will reset everything to default settings.

The AN is a PLG board, it needs to be installed in a module, so its in my MU2000 along with my DR and SG PLGs. DR is generally the most useful for game use. The AN is useless for general PC game use, but in my above vids I'm using the MSX MIDI-PAC2, which is custom homebrew hardware. Games do not …
