that game just only will render in software mode unless you have a older driver, using the original tnt patch.

Theres does not seem to be any list anywhere I could find of ISA cards with digital out. So far I've only been able to find 3 cards with this feature. CMI-8330, Header on card AWE64 Gold, Header on card Terratec ews64xl with front/header box

I tend to think if it will display 3d than its not the gpu. If you see things like vertical strips it can be bad ram.

board is bad only other thing I would do is use a programmer to reprogram the bios thinking maybe the bios is bricked from a bad flash.

yikes it most likely was your ram. That even looks like the typical blue screen error message from bad ram in XP. Could also be a bad pci card like a bad sound card on the pci bus.
