Re: Ess es1868f or Soundblaster awe64 value ct4380

Well I did google a bit about DOS and sound ... and therefore I just made this topic about two soundcards I actually have ( Well I have more but the ESS seems to be compatible with more or less everything and the only one with an IDE connector on it ). Just one question ... "General Midi" is that …

Re: Ess es1868f or Soundblaster awe64 value ct4380

I am leaning towards buying a dreamblaster if I read all this. It's not that expensive and I support a company that actually makes nice toys for us in 2019. But more importantly I can also avoid changing cards and set it all up again, that ESS is SO easy to configure for a newbie like me. I also …

Ess es1868f or Soundblaster awe64 value ct4380

Dosmachines it is all new to me.... So I have 486 with es1868f soundcard with a cdrom on it and a seperate i/o board. I also have soundblaster awe64 ct4380 without ide. I also considered a dreamblaster for the ESS board ( do games use that, totally lost on this ) but I noticed the soundblaster has …

Re: screen artifacts / garbled with Dune2

Guys, you all miss the point: I have a Commodore 386sx bridgeboard upgraded to a 486slc ( or something like that ) with a Math.co 387sx fpu and 4mb ram. Like the Janus docs tell you, using the mouse driver for the bridge board can destroy the on-screen graphics. This is a bug in the Janus software …

Re: screen artifacts / garbled with Dune2

my guess would be bad memory sticks in your retro system also, you can try to run dune 2 on a more modern computer by using winuae.. the amiga version is superior anyway in my opinion :) I would also recommend to use something like memtest86 to test the memory of your retro pc system The PC …

screen artifacts / garbled with Dune2

So here's the situation: I have a Commodore 386sx bridgeboard upgraded to a 486slc ( or something like that ) with a Math.co 387sx fpu and 4mb ram. All seems to work fine apart from Dune2 where the graphics go bad ( see pictures ). I use the uncracked cdrom version, 1.07 ( with or without 1.07fix ) …

Re: Can't use IDE port on BTC 1857i card

Nice to see you got it to work, but now there's one thing that puzzles me... ES1868.COM /A:168 /I:A ...it means IRQ 10. But you have flashed it for IRQ 15. How can it work? I guess that EEPROM code only selects the prefered value? For ISAPNP BIOS, or something? I am not sure either but it does work …

Re: Can't use IDE port on BTC 1857i card

What happens when you run ES1868.COM ("ESS IDE CD-ROM controller ( ES1869 ) enable program V4.6") with the appropriate parameters? Also, there's that EEPR1869.EXE utility, with all those EEPROM codes, have you tried it? 1869i12.bin ES1869 ROM CODE WITH IDE use IRQ 12 (basic configure 0000) 1869i15. …
