To be clear, I find MMX chips to be better than non MMX as more of the cache flags have an effect on performance, so you have more tuning options and smoother scaling. I'd suggest using a downclocked MMX chip rather than a P54 core. You gain a lot of flexibility for a minor increase in bottom end …

Really only one way to fine out 🤣 . It seems like it would be fine. To be extra safe, you might put some epoxy or something on the exposed wire after you cut. Also make sure to get out any metal flakes or you'll risk a short.

The voodoo 3 PCI is the most rare video card in the bunch by some margin. You can buy an MX 440 for 20$ on ebay, and a radeon 9100 runs about the same. I would keep system 2 with the voodoo 3.
